Her dad recently died from colon cancer and, although she had no symptoms, her age and family history were the impetus for testing. Susan followed all the pre-procedural instructions including the bowel prep, and had been NPO after midnight. Her nurse started an IV of 5% dextrose in water, 100cc/hr, given for two hours before the procedure.
